(Poicephalus rufiventris)
General Information
Approximate size: 9-10 inches/25 cm
Native to: Eastern Africa
Min. cage size: 20" x 20" x 20"
They are the most active and playful of all the smaller parrots. Many of them often become great little talkers.
All Red-Bellied Parrots have orange-red coloration on their chest and abdomen area as chicks; the hens will loose the red coloration during their first molt. Their chest and abdomen area will then be green and gray. The males not only retain their red-orange coloration but it also intensifies during their first molt.
